Teen Pregnancy

Emma was born to a pretty good family. She never had to worry about a roof over her head or when her

next meal was. She was the definition of privileged. She was beautiful and smart. Nobody would have

suspected that she would be the next “Secret Life of An American Teenager,” but she had become just that.
She met Brenden when she was a High School Junior at the back to school bash dance. He wasn’t the most

attractive kid at school, but he was extremely smart and had a really good heart. Emma wasn’t the most

promiscuous girl in school, but she had some experience in the anatomy department.
It was on the dance floor that they first made eye contact. She was dancing with three of her closest friends when

she turned her head to look for somewhere to sit. She saw a lanky figure over by the punch bowl with

his head down. He lifted his head and in that moment they got their first glimpse of eachother. He walked

over and asked her if she wanted to dance with him. She didn’t know his name, but she thought he was kinda

cute so she agreed. They worked themselves around the floor, moving to the rhythm of the music. After a while,

they went  to go get a drink.
The punch bowl had already been spiked with a pretty heavy amount of vodka, making it taste pretty bitter.

It burned Emma’s throat as it went down, but she finished her glass in one long drink.

When her buzz began to kick in, Brenden suddenly became MUCH more attractive.

She grabbed his hand as her hazy instincts kicked in. They walked through the hall and into an unguarded bathroom.

She pulled him close and well…. It’s pretty obvious what happened next.
Luckily, one of her friends was sober enough to drive her home after the dance was over.

She went home and crawled into bed. She passed out very quickly and by the time she woke up again, it was around

11am and she had a killer headache. She slowly sat up and turned her head to look in the full length mirror next to her

closet. Her eyes were bloodshot and blurry. When her vision began to clear a bit, she slowly dragged

herself out of bed and managed to get a bottle of aspirin from her desk drawer. She took a few pills

and then went back to bed to sleep off her handover. The rest of the day, she stayed in her room and relaxed.

It was Saturday and her mother was out of town, so no one really noticed that she had made herself sick.
About a week went by before things started to get weird. One morning, she woke up with some light cramping

in her lower abdomen. She didn’t really think much of it though because there was a stomach bug travelling

through her school. She figured that the cramping was just one of the early symptoms of the flu. She didn’t consider

the fact that the cramps were too low to be her stomach or intestines. The cramping lasted for the next 3 days before

she developed spotting. This also didn’t concern her because she had experienced irregular periods for years, which

is very common for young women. The spotting continued on and off for about a week. Then, after a few weeks her

abdomen seemed to become bloated. This was when she finally became worried that something was wrong.
After googling all of her symptoms that she had experienced for the past month, the word that came up burned into her mind.

Pregnancy.
She ran across the street to the closest drug store and grabbed a test. When the 5 minutes were up……

the symbol that appeared marked the moment her life changed forever…..
A little pink +....
